Mostly Garden Thoughts

The first of our seeds were planted weekend before last, my Mom and I had a great deal of fun playing with all the little pots and trying to sprinkle exactly the right amount of seeds in each. There was a bit of everything, salad, cauliflower, sunflowers, sorrel, parsley, and several others I don't recall right now.

This last weekend we had a blessedly rain free Saturday and my Mother attacked the apple trees while my lovely husband gave the willow trees around the property a haircut. I basically stood back in awe while she cut and sawed and basically pruned the poor things to within an inch of their lives. The three apple trees now look decidedly the worse for wear but Mom assures me that it was just what they needed. Perhaps next year I will try my hand at more than handing her the tools she needs and trying to figure out why the heck she cut off that one instead of the other one.

Unfortunately I have finally succumbed to the cold Katie had a few weeks ago and am feeling a little miserable. Still Saturday was fun and Sunday was spent on the couch cuddling with my daughter which also doesn't suck ;-)
