Daily Diary
Aug. 20th, 2007 02:15 pmThe weekend was nice and quiet, I finally got some actual sewing on the new tunic done though I can't for the life of me figure out my Mother's Singer. I've also started spinning for the dye experiments and have the first 25g batch done, I'm doing a heavy single so it's going quickly. Mom, Kate and I went to a new garden centre on Saturday, it was great. They have a lovely selection and we had a great time. We got 3 different types of tulips, 3 different types of crocus, bluebells and some snowdrops. We also got 8 cyclamen on sale and other bits and pieces.
On the kitchen front I have a whole pork belly to cut up and perhaps start the first batch of curing bacon in the fridge tonight. I'm also very pleased with my experiment in making yoghurt. It's so simple it almost hurts all you have to have is an accurate candy thermometer as you have to heat the milk (500ml) to exactly 46C then you take it off the fire and add 2-3 tablespoons of both milk powder (for thickening) and a plain live active culture yoghurt and put the whole shebang in a warm place overnight and hey presto you have yoghurt.
