Was a blast, it was the best birthday in ages. I got tea in bed and then [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost and I set off for my parent's house to pick up the Kate. We had been out to dinner the night before and she stayed with them.

We then drove through the Wicklow Mountains (read hills) to Glendalough which is a beautiful valley with an ancient monastic settlement. It's absolutely gorgeous and I picked up two holly and one yew wand which have been on my list for acquiring for some time. We then had lunch at a local restaurant and drove back home to find a birthday cake on our doorstep which my Mom had left for me.

In the evening we kicked back and I played my new game for a while and then had pizza for dinner. Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes some day I will have a big bash and everyone is invited.

It was a lovely day, 40 is a pretty good number don't you think?

I had a blast. Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost and I deposted the Girl with her Oma and took the bus to Dublin. We had money in our pockets to go clothes shopping for [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost, and I had 100E birthday money from my parents to spend just on me.

First we went to Starbucks for the obligatory shot of caffeine, then we had a big irish breakfast at a nearby cafe on Dame Street. We walked about a bit and found an oriental shop that actually stocks my prefered choice of soy sauce and has proper tofu as well as a small selection of bulk spices. Grafton Street was next and we found some great new shoes for [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost at a very reasonable price. Then we had to hoof it to Parnell Street to make the 1:30pm showing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, we made it and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Afterward we continued shopping and I bought myself a small MP3 player which I have been wanting for quite a while as well as picking up a copy of the new Enya CD. I also stoped at the lush store and got over 30E of stuff for free because they were clearing their Christmas stock. In short I made out like a bandit.

We got home around 6:30pm and apparently the Girl and her Oma had also had a blast. It was a great day.
