I'm so happy my bedroom is finished, the curtains are up and it looks like a properly furnished and decorated adults bedroom. It's wark and cozy and not too bright which is what I want from my bedroom. Having shopped around on Amazon for a meditation mat and cushion we decided just to use spare fabric to put one together so my old woollen curtains and the remainder of the woollen quilt batting got put together with a plum coloured wool that is the outer layer. It's thick and soft and will keep my ageing knees warm. Now I need to find some filler for the cushion, traditionally that buckwheat hulls but no idea if I can put my hands on some of those.

It's like we are on some demented funride that's no fun at all. Biden has a chance again, Trump is blustering about legal action and calling his devout followers to what basically amounts to civil war. How is this man not in jail?

On a personal note, Mom has been painting the chair, bookshelf, and spray painting the bed sted while I'm working. The oil paint will take till mid next week to cure but I may be able to move into the bedroom again on the weekend unless the smell is too bad. The chaos that had spilt out on the stairs and landing is once again tamed so things aren't nearly so unmoored as they were.

Poor Toaster still has a challenge getting in the cat door, she just doesn't quite have the critical mass yet and she hasn't figured out how to apply what bodyweight she has to get the damn door open.

And the last unconnected titbit is that I've discovered that acorn squash tastes pretty ok, gonna have to find some more recipes.

Made more progress, keep your fingers crossed we have enough blue paint to do what we want. I just picked up a litre of sunset tangerine to go in the window nook. It's going to be amazing. Tomorrow the second coat of white goes on and then we have to move the closets and sort through all the stuff that is kept back there, that's tomorrow morning and then I finish the blue ceiling, hopefully, both coats and then at least one coat of the white. We won't be completely done by Thursday but we are going to be really close.

Picked up the gold spray for the bed and I think Mom is going to spray the fame tomorrow so that we can put it together again on the weekend. Mom has decided that my chair that she's upholstering will be painted, I've settled on sage green, unfortunately, the store is running out of everything and I just wasn't going to buy a litre of paint for one chair. So that goes on the to pick up list. Woodies or B&Q may have something we can pick up next weekend.

I'm getting to the need to ice my hand and arms point after work so hopefully, the body will hold out till everything is done.

Today was day 2 1/2 of painting my bedroom, I've taken most of the week off except Friday, thankfully the new WoW expansion is decidedly not dropping tomorrow. On Saturday, I didn't get back till about 2pm from taking the girl to her riding so I mostly did cleaning out of stuff and a bit of filling cracks and holes so we could get started on Sunday. Sunday again was a lot of prep work, more spackle, the walls really were in bad shape we've had problems with the plaster coming loose over a lot of studs. Also started to cut in the dark blue ceiling paint around the top border so I could get started paint rolling today. The concept is deep saturated Moroccan colours. The ceiling is a midnight blue, the walls mostly a warm grey putty. We're thinking of doing some accents in a deep pink tangerine but haven't made the final decision. We broke down the bed frame today, it's an old fashioned metal frame and I think we are going to spray that with gold paint. It's probably going to be next week before I can move in again. The first coat of paint in on 4/5ths of the ceiling. We are leaving the closets on one end, finishing the painting in the rest of the room then the closets will get pushed into the middle of the room and all the stuff stored behind them goes somewhere else. probably under the roof where we have storage space. Once all that is in we need to go find curtain fabric, I'm not sure if the fabric stores are considered essential, we shall have to see, if not that has to wait till December. The curtains are probably going to be a dark brick red, possibly scarlet, depends on what we find.

Poor Kate is studying for the mid-term exams during her mid-term vacation because nothing says relaxation than cramming for exams. I'm still appalled at her workload. Our school system is so screwed up.

We were quite busy last weekend. We finally motivated to paint my Mother's bedroom which was sooooo necessary, she burns candles a lot especially in winter and we've never gotten around to actually fully painting after the house was handed over to us tenish years ago as a white box. She's chosen a pretty dark greenish grey (very Scandi). I was doubtful but it's going to be an extremely elegant, very calm look, perfect for a bedroom. As a friend of mine said recently first coats serve to keep us humble. We cleaned like fiends on Friday and did prep like filling in any holes or cracks, next time I think that we will leave two days for this step so that we can get all the filling and sanding done before we launch into the painting as this always takes longer than expected. On Saturday I painted the ceiling which is the suckiest part of the job and leaves you absolutely coated in white speckles, I also covered any particularly dirty parts of the walls so that there would be a fairly evenly white surface for the grey. Yesterday on Sunday we cut in all the margins and then painted, the cutting in takes at least 70 percent of the time you spend painting. As the lady in the store assured us, we will need a second coat, that needs to happen today at some stage, maybe lunchtime, or at least we will get a start at lunch, Mom is anxious to do it while it's as bright as possible. Then the only thing left to do are the baseboards and the doors but that can be done after she's moved back in. Right now her bedroom has exploded all over the house, she's sleeping in my bed and I'm sleeping on a mattress in the library.

The other big thing on the weekend was the Blue Star Virtual Family Gathering. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the majority of the programme during the week since it starts at 11 pm my time. Most of the stuff I'm most enthusiastic about happens around 2 am lol. There's also a Disc server which I'm hoping people will start using on a more regular basis to connect. As everyone, the tradition is facing the challenge of doing something online that really should happen in person. I cried when Home Again was sung. Once again I am faced with the question on whether to try to start a coven again, my husband is gone so that excuse is not there anymore. Am I willing to put in that much work? Is there even demand in Ireland for a semi traditional coven?

Kate is back to school today, three face masks and a visor in hand.
