evaelisabethThings are finally slowing down in the office, I swear I'm starting to loose hair from the stress of it (I'm not kidding, pretty large handfuls of it every time I wash my hair). I did take some time during lunch yesterday to drop into exhibition of the Annals of the Four Masters which are on display in the long room of the old library. It really emphasized to me the impact of handwritten records, it's so amazing to be looking at a page that people laboured over so many hundreds of years ago.
On another note Kate still hasn't succumbed to the Chickenpox that's going around, part of me just wants to get it over with another part hopes it passes us by. In general she's doing fine and enjoys a life of leading her parents around by their noses ;-) This afternoon she and her Oma are going shopping in Newbridge for some leotards and ballet slippers, I dread to think of all the stuff they are going to come home with because you know it's not going to be just a couple of slippers and a pink tutu.
Oh, I almost forgot, the blueberry cordial is a success I think, I used vodka and white sugar with some lemon juice but that wasn't quite right there was a sort of bitter edge to it. At Mom's prompting I added some honey, also quite a bit of lemon juice and a bit of cinnamon and that did the trick. I now only have the plum cordial steeping but that should be ready well in time for Yule.
