We had a fun weekend, my parents babysat the K on Saturday and [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost and I went out to Dublin for the day. Apparently the Girl and her Opa are getting on fabulously, he is wrapped very tightly around that little pinkie. Dublin was fun we checked out the Temple Bar area which has a lot of food places and ate at a semi-touristy pub. As a result we sat next to a couple from St. Louis whose son works for State Farm in Columbia (a place I used to slave ehm work for). They seemed to be pretty standard issue middle class conservative Americans, the wife actually mentioned that she hoped that Ireland would not become as secularized as America has. I just smiled and moved on.

On Sunday we had my parents over for lunch and poor Brian got to drive on the Irish roads for the first time with my Dad. Apparently the problem is not going to be driving on the left but driving on the somewhat small roads. I think partly it's a matter of perspective because here we have tall hedges on either side of the road so things look smaller than they actually are.

K is still having trouble going to sleep, last night she cried for a solid hour after waking up around 9:00pm. Hopefully things will settle down for her soon.

I'm pondering exactly what I want to do for Samhain, I haven't spent a solitary Samhain in over a decade and it's quite strange. I have set up a small ancestor shrine but I don't think that any parting of the veil will be hapening since it's just me.
