evaelisabethOne of the attractions of Chartres is the stained glass exhibit which was showing the work of a wonderful artist whose name currently escapes me http://www.centre-vitrail.org/en/index.php .
He takes glass that's about 3 inches thick and breaks it in a random fashion eventually putting it back together in the most amazing works of light and color. The varying thickness of the glass (because of the breaking) gives beautifully graded shading. An added bonus is the historic building that houses the collection.
