We had a blast this weekend. On Saturday I had a massage and after that the whole family, including my Mother, went shopping at the Liffey Valley Center. We got our broken vaccum cleaner replaced for free and I found a small round pine table for an altar, it's big enough for a just me working as long as I use very small tools ;-) We also got the Girl new clothes for the fall, she just looks faboulus in orange which makes no sense considering she's a blonde.

Yesterday friends of our took her Short but Energetic Highness and [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost and I went on a date to Dublin. We finally saw the main National Musseum (Oh the period goodness). I wimped out of the Sacrifice and Kingship Exhbition and sent [livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost in to look at the Bog Bodies, his comment to me when he came out of one particular exhibit was that "he was pretty flat" which cracked me up. There was a very cool 17th Century dress that had very interesting piecing on the bodice (I dont think they were darts but I could be wrong) and a hugely pleated skirt which looked like it was sewn onto the bodice. Wish Ms. V had been there she could have probably told me exactly how it was made. there were also some trews, a man's jacket and what looked like a half circle cloak, all bog preserved. One intruiging thing was the older period cloak that had the pieces seamed horizontally rather than vertically like we would see today. No hoods but some goofy looking fuzzy hats. I could go on and on, ladies you got to come visit, you know who you are.

[livejournal.com profile] paradigmslost and I also had a spiffy lunch and stopped at various cafes along the way. We finally made it back to pick K up around 6:30pm.

It was lovely.
