Getting something off my chest
Jan. 14th, 2011 02:03 pmBeing skinny does not make anyone a better person, even being a hard bodied marathon running yoga posing fitness master does not make a better person. Being larger than our cultural stereotype of beauty does not make anyone a stupid lazy slob. Just because you don't fit into a size 6 does not mean that there is something wrong with you. People work out emotional issue in various ways some people overeat, some run 20 miles, neither makes you a better or worse person. Please, please, please, don't hate yourself because you had a chocolate cookie or because you just can't manage to get into those jeans today, because it doesn't matter you are just as lovable and smart and kind and interesting with those extra pounds than without.
Our society has tried to turn weight into an issue of morality, that's absolute and utter bullshit.
If you want to loose weight because of health issues or you go to a therapist because you have been comfort eating since you were five and your uncle did horrible things to you, I'm all the way behind you. If exercising floats your boat and you love getting that endorphin rush, I will cheer. Just don't try to tell me that I'm a bad person because of my weight. I applaud people getting out and doing things, taking charge of their lives, but you can take charge of your life as a size 20 too. Don't try to make my world revolve around a weighing scale and if anyone ever tries to tell my little girl she's anything less than perfect I will jump down their throat and pull their guts out past their tonsils.
