I'm steaming, after checking with HR and going directly to Bus Eireann apparently the NTA decided that for people like me who's ticket expired at the end of June that aren't able to avail themselves of their free six month extension they will only refund one month. Because, get this, initially the annual ticket is discounted by two months so they don't feel they need to pay the last two months of the contract. I'm not sure why it's the last two months that are the ones that they are picking as the ones discounted because I pay €204 per month pre payroll taxes for the privilege of riding on overcrowded, always late, always frigid or boiling buses. That's a total of almost €2.5k per annum for my commute.
I've emailed the NTA and asked for the contact details of their Department Head because in order to send the complaint to the actual Complaint Department of the NTA we need to jump through the hoops, in writing by snail mail. I will push this all the way to our wonderful Green Party Minister for Transport TD Eamon Ryan. I don't expect to get any money out of it but they got a lot of publicity for this refund which depending on when you bought your ticket isn't quite a refund.
